At the weekend, the first mountain bike cross-country race took place in Freisen (Saarland, Germany) after the outbreak of the corona pandemic. The 2-hour race "Green Hell" has been known as an insider tip for many years and was able to meet everyone expectations, despite the special circumstances and requirements caused by the pandemic.
Unlike in previous years, the 290 participants raced in time trial mode, slightly offset in time on the 4.5 km long route. The ToMotion by black tusk racing team started with seven team members. Two of them made it to the podium.
Jos van Sterkenburg won an outstanding first place in the U19 age category, as well as 19th place out of 92 in the overall ranking. The 16-year-old young talent quickly found a good rhythm and was able to keep his pace over the entire route. Furthermore, Gwenda Rüsing performed nicely at the race. She finished second, only 30 seconds behind the first.
Congratulations to Jos and Gwenda.
